The Three Billy Goats Gruff
The Story
Once upon a time, in a lush green valley, there lived three billy goats named Gruff. There was Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle-Sized Billy Goat Gruff, and Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. They loved to eat sweet, green grass. But one day, they found their field was all eaten up!
"Let's go to the hillside across the river. It has plenty of grass for us," said Great Big Billy Goat Gruff.
But there was a problem. A rickety bridge was the only way to get to the hillside, and under that bridge lived a mean, hungry troll.
First, Little Billy Goat Gruff tiptoed onto the bridge. Trip, trap, trip, trap! His tiny hooves made little sounds.
"Who's that tripping over my bridge?" roared the troll.
"It's just me, Little Billy Goat Gruff. Please let me pass," the little goat pleaded.
"I'm going to eat you up!" growled the troll.
"But I'm very small. Wait for my middle brother. He's bigger and tastier," said Little Billy Goat Gruff, hoping to trick the troll.
"Hmm, alright. You may pass," grumbled the troll, thinking of a bigger meal.
Next, Middle-Sized Billy Goat Gruff started across. Trip, trap, trip, trap! His hooves were louder.
"Who's that tripping over my bridge?" the troll roared again.
"It's me, Middle-Sized Billy Goat Gruff. Please let me pass," said the middle goat.
"I'm going to eat you up!" growled the troll.
"But wait! My big brother is coming. He's the biggest and tastiest of us all," said Middle-Sized Billy Goat Gruff, hoping the same trick would work.
"Fine, go ahead. I'll wait for the big one," the troll decided, his stomach rumbling.
Finally, it was Great Big Billy Goat Gruff's turn. He stomped onto the bridge. Trip, trap, trip, trap! His hooves were so loud that the bridge shook.
"Who's that stomping over my bridge?" the troll roared louder than ever.
"It's me, Great Big Billy Goat Gruff," said the biggest goat, ready to face the troll.
But just as Great Big Billy Goat Gruff was about to charge at the troll...
The story pauses here. The troll blocks the way, his eyes gleaming with hunger. The bridge is the only path to the lush hillside. How will the Three Billy Goats Gruff get to the other side now?
CliffHanger

The smallest goat and middle goat trick the troll into waiting for the biggest goat, who then confronts the troll. Just as the biggest goat is about to charge the troll, the story pauses—how will the goats get past the troll and reach the meadow?
The Challenge(s)
Challenge #1: Build a raft?
Create a structure that will help the goats escape by using the river below the bridge. What can we build that will help the goats float the river? Think of things, like a boat or raft.
Challenge #2: Build a bridge?
Are they building an alternate bridge? If so, it will read like this: Build a new sturdy structure that will be adjacent to the existing bridge. What can we build that will allow the goats to cross the river without having to fight the troll? Think of things, like building an alternate bridge.
